1.What is your database's name, what grade level would use the database, and what subject area would the database be used?

EBSCO's Consumer Health Complete is part of the EBSCO databases. It would probably be used by high schoolers and possibly 7th and 8th grade. The subject area of the database is health and wellness. It also covers medcine including alternative practices.

 

2. Explain the types of search methods that are available on this database: (keyword, subject, advanced, topic, etc.)

You can search by text, author, title, subject terms, abstract, keyword, geographic terms, publication name, related words, and/or accession number.

 

3. Can you sort your search? (relevance, date, size of article) If so, how?

You may sort the results by publication date, journal, publication date, document type, numper of pages, with or without images by going to the "Advanced Search."

 

4. What other features are available? Does the database allow you to download, print, email, etc?

It allows you to print, save, e-mail, and add to folder.

 

5. Does the database show how to cite information?

The database shows you how to cite information.

 

6. Can you email articles found?

You can email the articles to your school e-mail or your own e-mail at home.

 

7. What other information (videos, audios, photographs, etc.) does the database contain database?

It has a visual search and images.

 

8. What are the “coverage dates” of the database holdings? (How far back do the articles date?)

You can find articles that date back to 1998.

 

9. Can you access information from this month’s newspapers or magazines? If so, how current are they? If not, how current are they?

You can find articles from this month's journals. They are about a week old.

 

10. What types of assistance is listed on the home page for the user? (Help, search tips, etc.)

There is a Help buton avaliable on the Home Page.

 

11. What areas are lacking in this database regarding search techniques, user friendliness, options to save searches, materials available, etc.?

There are no audio or video documents.

 

12. Explain if this database is easy or difficult to use and why or why not:

It is pretty easy to use. Everything is pretty self-explanatory.

 

13. After using the database, in what other types of classes do you believe it could be used?

I think this database would be useful in science classes.
