The Online Catalog that is used to locate books, videos, DVDs, equipment, e-books and other resources is called Destiny. This database can be found at: http://destiny.fwcds.org Using Destiny as your guide, answer the following questions by re-writing them as statements that can be used to help guide students in using the online catalog. Delete these directions when you have completed the questions below.

Students are able to use the Destiny Online Catalog to locate the types of materials that are in the MS/US Library, and find all the books in the libary! All students at Fort Worth Country Day School are able to use the Destiny Catalog. Students can go to the library home page (http://www.fwcds.org/campus/libraries/default.asp ) and click on the link that says Destiny to access the online catalog from their computers at home.

Information can be found on the Destiny homepage which includes facts about the our E-books, our card catalog and the databases that are available with our library accounts. You can also find out which books are available on our Accelerated Reader program, which has quizzes over certain books to help students understand more clearly the books they are reading.

A visual search allows students to search topics based on pictures. For example, you can click on a picture of a pig to search for books dealing with pigs. This allows younger students to do research without having to learn the more complicated normal system.

Users can search the online catalog by typing in a book's author, keyword, subject, or series.

A power search allows the user to enter several details to help further refine a search. A normal search normally uses only a keyword, but a power search allows entry of keyword, author, a time frame, and type of results.
